The International Dairy Federation's annual summit is the world’s foremost dairy event, bringing together leading specialists and key decision-makers in all dairy-related fields. This year's theme is 'Making a Difference with Dairy'.

The Leaders Forum

The 2017 IDF World Dairy Summit opens on Monday 30 October with a brand-new event: the World Dairy Political/Agricultural Leaders Forum – a platform for the political and agricultural leaders who shape the operating environment of the dairy sector. This will be followed by the World Dairy Leaders Forum, in which senior company leaders will get the chance to discuss their vision for the sector’s future. In the afternoon’s IDF Forum, the IDF will showcase its work.

Parallel conference sessions

There will be parallel conference sessions from Tuesday 31 October to Thursday 2 November, structured around this year’s conference theme, ‘Making a Difference with Dairy’.

Each session will include a panel discussion with recognised sector leaders and expert speakers from around the world, covering topics across the spectrum, from economics to antimicrobial resistance. Delegates will have ample opportunity to contribute to the debate.

Speakers

Keynote speakers at this year's conference will include:

Ulf Magnusson

A Swedish veterinarian and professor at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala. Over the past decades, he has been working on animal health and reproduction issues in low-income Asian and African nations. Currently, he leads the animal-health work in research program Livestock Agri-food system, hosted by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi; and the action network on antimicrobial resistance in the FAO- hosted Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock.

Hanne Bang Bligaard

Arla Foods Senior Specialist in sustainable dairy farming, Hanne Bang Bligaard is responsible for Arla Foods Sustainable Dairy Farming Strategy globally. A dairy cooperative with farmer owners in seven North West European countries, Arla Foods aims to develop its responsibility along the whole value chain.

Poster presentations are an integral part of the IDF WDS 2017 program, a starting point for the exchange of ideas and information across the global dairy community in a fast-changing world.
